About
Yuriko Ryan is a writer and speaker with a background in environmental gerontology, spatial ethics, bioethics, and Catholic Social Teaching.
Born in Japan, Yuriko received her Masters in Gerontology from Simon Fraser University and her Doctorate in Systems and Public Health Bioethics from Loyola University of Chicago.
With her extensive experience in the research and public health sectors, Yuriko has contributed to publications like The Hastings Center for Bioethics and AI and Faith, and spoken for organizations like the Arizona Bioethics Network.
As a researcher and public official, it became increasingly clear to Yuriko that many felt a growing unease with slapdash applications of bold new technologies — especially in a health care setting — but lacked the theoretical frameworks to diagnose exactly how technology, spaces, and policy choices affect human dignity.
With her work, Yuriko has made it her focus to create a space for thinkers to rigorously examine the human impacts of technology in aging, health care, and the human experience.
